Robert W. Gustafson of North Easton, Crescent Credit Union president and CEO, has been named chairman of the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center board of trustees. He served previously as vice chairman of the board and has been a longtime trustee. Earlier this year, he also was named to the Caritas Christi Health Care board of governors. Caritas Good Samaritan is a member of Caritas Christi, the second largest health care system in New England.
Gustafson has been president and CEO of Crescent Credit Union, a $300 million community credit union with eight branches, since 1993. Previously he was regional president of Granite Bank of Peterborough, N.H., executive vice president of Bank of New England South in charge of all private banking and trust services, and senior vice president of administration and retail banking for Plymouth Home National Bank, Brockton.
He is a director and immediate past president of the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton and has served in many other capacities within the community, including chairman of United Way of Greater Plymouth County, chairman of Stonehill College’s Executive Committee for Development and president of Brockton Day Nursery. He also was chairman of the board of Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton and president of Goddard Health Planning before Goddard Memorial Hospital and Cardinal Cushing Hospital merged to form Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, and services were consolidated at the Brockton campus.
A graduate of Bentley College, Gustafson holds a master’s in business administration from Babson College and has attended Harvard Business School’s senior Bank Officers’ Program and Southern Methodist University’s Graduate School of Bank Investments.
A teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine, Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center is a 258-bed acute-care hospital with comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services that serves Brockton and 22 neighboring communities. The hospital offers specialized care in diabetes, cardiac care, general and specialty surgery, obstetrics, diagnostic imaging, occupational health, pain management and substance abuse.
